My name’s Zoe, and today we’re going to answer a question from Laura Lewis,
and that’s, “What are your top SEO tips for optimising blog content?”
There are hundreds of ranking factors on Google, some more important than others.
But if you can try and get your primary keyword for your blog or keywords,
two maximum, really, into your title tags, the title of your blog,
the meta description, which is the part that appears when you’re
searching on Google underneath the title that you click on. It’s that short bit of
text there. So make sure that your keyword goes into there. It doesn’t necessary
impact SEO directly, but it can help to increase click-through
rates to get people actually engaged in your content to click through.
Alt text in images. So when you upload an image into your blog,
make sure that there’s a little field that allows you to put in an
alt text. Make sure that you put your keyword into there.
Header, tags and also your URL. Don’t worry if you can’t get it into every single one of those,
but you should keep those in mind every time you’re writing a blog post and
publishing it online. The next two here kind of go together.
So the best kind of blog post that works well for SEO are actually answering a
question. So think about common questions that your target audience might have on
your product, or services, or what you’re trying to market,
and think about if you can write a blog about that. And then,
also do your research to make sure…are people actually asking that question.
So you could use something like Google Keyword Planner tool to look at that.
And also, do your research of what’s already out there. So make sure you google
that question, have a look and see what other people are doing,
not only to give your blog a different direction and make it different and unique
from those, but also to see how much competition there is around appearing in
search terms for that. And then, also once your blog post is
published, you can do some outreach to try get some links ideally so that they send
authority to your post to help with your SEO. Outreach,
you can do in many different ways. So sharing on social is obviously going
to help, but you could also look at some websites that maybe collate lots of blog
posts together. Say, the top 10 blogs you’ll read on digital
marketing, for example, and contact them. Say, you’ve written
this really cool post. I’m answering this question, do you think you could
include me here? So that sort of thing’s really good for outreach.
But most importantly, make sure that you keep your content
unique, and of a great quality, and fresh. So although you’re
thinking about all these things for SEO, make sure that you’re still writing a
useful post for your readers. So that’s some top SEO tips for optimising
your blog content. I hope that helps. Thank you. ♪ [music] ♪
