By | January 27, 2020

Hello there, welcome here! Let’s see how to useAdobe Musequickly. If you are looking for something in detail, check the smart index in the videodescription. Correct us if you notice mistakes in our English.Adobe Museis a software used to create and publish websites. Differently than Adobe Dreamweaver, you won’t have to do with the HTML code or CSS files at all.Muse is the best for people that don’t know everything about websites, that don’t need to create a professional complex page. The workspace itself explains you how Muse works. The creation of an active website is divided in differentphases, listed above, from left to right. We will have a general overview on them. To create a new site, go toFileand then toNew Site…ThroughInitial Layout, choose the device where the site has to appear. Set then the size of the page, a safe zone usingmarginand apaddingfor the text, that will appear through additional guides on the page. The page created will be aMaster page, so the main and the first page of your website, that can be calledHomeorIndex. You can manage the page right-clicking on it, for example to change its layout again, orrenameit. The name is indicated in black. Don’t care about the blue one. If you hover a page, somepluseswill appear to make you add new pages. These set a completehierarchy.Pages put at the same level have the sameimportance.Pages at a lower level are subpages of the ones on top. You can delete pages using theXin the top right corner. Click and drag to move the position of a page in the structure. This stage is calledPlanning. You set the basic structure of your website and the number of pages componing it in full. You can edit this structure anytime, just click onPlanabove. On top set theSize, so how much big the pages must be. We will see here just theDesktopproject: nothing differs forTabletsandPhones. The second phase is calledDesign, and follows the planning. TheDesign modesets how a single page must appear. You can open a page double-clicking on it when inPlan mode. You can open more pages per time, these will be listed all in the last grey strip you have on top, with the name of the pages themselves. Let’s see the main important features of this phase. Right next to the different steps, you have themain Toolsof Muse. Use theZoomToolto zoom in and out. Click to zoom in,hold ALT downand click to zoom out. You can zoom in a particular area clicking and dragging on it. You can use theHand Toolholding Space downto move through your page in progress. Use theT iconto add some text. First of all create thetext box, ortext frame, where the text will be fully contained inside. Click and drag to create it. Then start typing. Use theRectangle Toolinstead to create a simple and general rectangle object. You canimport photosas well. Simply drag them onto your workspace. Click and drag then to set its dimensions. All these objects, such as text, shapes and image frames can be managed in the same way. If youhold CTRL down, you will activate theSelection Tool. You can also use theblack arrow buttonon top. Click on an object toselectit. If you hover an object, Muse will tell you whichkindit is. Click and drag inside tomovethe object.Smart guideswill show up to set the right position. Click and drag the squares tosizethe object. This won’t work forthe text and the image frame. To size the image inside its frame, double-click on it, and work with theorange contours. Using them, you will move and size the image inside its frame. Approach the squares externally torotatethe object. Muse will indicate you theangle of inclinationas well. You can edit these objects much more into deep. Activate theSelection Toolusing its button. When you select an object, itspropertieswill appear on top. For example thestrokeandfillingcolors, the stroke thickness, the kind of corners, theOpacity level, and so on. Mind thatthese properties are applied on the containerbox. If you have arectangle, the properties will be applied on the rectangle. If you have a picture, these will be applied on theimage framethat contains it. If you have text, these will be applied on itstext frame. You can apply these properties to thePageas well. Make sure to have selected no objects in this case. Theblue wordshave advanced options inside, try them out. Keep in mind theTransform section. This lets you set dimentions, positions and inclinations precisely. To edit text properly, it is better to use theText Tool. Select the part of the text to edit and then use the properties above to change size, font and kind. Mind to useWeb Safe Fonts. These are fonts that cover the majority of computers. If you don’t use these,a visitor that views your page, may not see the text because hedoesn’t have that font installed. The Web Safe Fonts are indicated through aworld iconon the right. You can addhyperlinksto any object. Hyperlinks are used to open other pages clicking on a shape, an image, or a piece of text. It is what you see on the net, underlined and in blue color. To add one, simply search for theHyperlinks section. You can type an address to add a link of an external website, or use the link that connects to another page of your website. Click onHyperlinksin blue, and tick to open the pagein another browser window. Then, use theCrop Toolto select more objects together, and treat them all at once. On the right you have different windows. These are totally included in the properties bar seen before, a part from theLayers window. Alayercollects inside many objects, that will have contours with the same color of the layer. The layers areimportant to decide which object must stay on another.Let’s suppose to put an objectonanother. Using thesmall sheet iconbelow, create a new layer. This will have a different color. Right-click on an object and go toMoveLayerand move the object to another layer. At this point,if you change the layersorder, you will put the object on the other. This happens because the layer that is on top, has objects that are shown above the ones in lower layers. Remember that you cancut, copyandpastean object selected, usingCTRL+X,CTRL+CandCTRL+V.UndousingCTRL+Z. Mind that each object has astate.A state is fixed properties related to an object, that are shown when the page visitor does something with the object.Normalmeans when the visitor does nothing.Rollovermeans when the pointer is placed on the object.Mouse downwhen the visitor clicks on the object.Activeis for more complex things, when the visitor is viewing what’s inside, for example in a menu bar. You can set the properties of each state. On the extreme left, next to the kind of the object, you can choose the state, and set the properties for each one then. When you think that a page is complete, go toPreview. You may need to turn off your firewall to see it. In this mode you can check links, layouts and how the page looks like. If everything is ok, simply go to the next step, thePublishone. To publish a page on the net, you need aserver. You can use one on your own, or useAdobe Business Catalyst. In this program, Adobe offers hosting servers for your website, at different prices per month. If you are subscribed to CreativeCloud, you can publish up to 5 websites for free.Choose anameto your site and decide better theURLbelow in theOption section. The first time is used to create aNew Site, and set itsURL.Mind that the Home page only will be published. In fact,it is you that have to link the other subpages with the main Home page, using theDesign modeand theHyperlinks. If you have otherHome pages, for example the ones put at the first row in the hierarchy, you may need to create a new site and URL for each one of them. Just open them and go toPublish mode. Then chooseNew Site…in thePublish tosection. Once a website is published, you can edit it in two different ways. Use theDesignmodeto edit anything related to the website appearance. Then just publish it again to update all. If you need to make other settings, outside the simple appearance, click onManageon top. This opens theAdmin ConsoleofBusiness Catalyst, used to manage your site properly, check stats and all the related settings. At this point, your site can be seen, but is unlisted, so if you know the precise precise web address you can see it. To make itpublic, so to make it appear in advertisements or search engines, you need to launch it, so simply click onLaunch Site. You can launch up to 5 different websites if you have Creative Cloud. After launching the page, you can add acustom domain. Instead of using an address that hasmysite., you can create your personal domain, Mind that, in the majority of cases, thedomainmust bepurchased. If you want todeletethe site, you can click onSite Managementand click onDelete Site.Mind that you can’t reopen your site once wiped off. However you can save the site project not to lose it. In Muse, just go toFile and then toSave Site As…Muse projectsare saved as.muse, so that you can opened it again to edit the appearance of your website, and publish again. Thanks for watching this video!
