Have you ever heard of domain authority? Can you actually give a score to your website
SEO ? There are so many metrics used by SEOs that
you mqy be a bit lost or confused about which score you can trust. Hi everyone this is Dorian from Xugar and

– how do you know if a score is good or not? For all the scores we will review they are
rated over 100. A higher score reflects a stronger trust signal
with 100 is the best possible score and 0 the worst possible score. First of all, let’s dive into the first
value ever created in 2000 by Google itself, Page Rank, named after one of Google’s founder
Larry Page. It was a way for SEOs to evaluate and measure
the importance of a web page, which was taking into consideration off page activities, predominantly
backlinks. Defined as a link analysis algorithm, Page
Rank was made available to public in early Google days and removed in 2009 from the webmaster
console and later in 2016 from displaying in Google’s browser Chrome. The decision was made due to SEOs focusing
too much on improving its score while it actually is a small part of the entire algorithm. As it was the only tangible value we could
rely on (due to its direct affiliation to Google), Page Rank score worked by counting
the number and quality of links to a page to estimate how valuable and important the
website is, relying on complicated mathematical algorithms. Even though the value isn’t accessible anymore,
PageRank main algorithm is still partially used today to rank websites. The next scores we will talk about are « Trust
Flow « and « citation flow ». Metric created by a 3rd party software company as are the
rest of the scores we will review today. Trust and Citation flow of a website has been
created by Majestic. Majestic is probably one of the most underrated
tool SEO professionals should have access to. The tool compiles a wide array of functionalities,
greatly helping in any backlinking campaign. Citation Flow is a value predicting how influential
a URL might be considering how many sites links to it, while the trust flow is a value
predicting how trustworthy a page is based on how trustworthy sites linking to it are. Those values are a direct correlation of how
PageRank works and improvement in the scores are directly coming from successful back linking
campaigns. So review today what is your website trust

a score below 10 is considered poor. Next on the list is Ahref tool’s domain
and page rating scores. Ahrefs alongst other tools such as SEMRush
is one of the most advanced, used and influential SEO tool in 2019. Domain rating is a metric showing the strength
of a website’s backlink profile. Based on quality and the number of backlinks
a website is scored on a 0 to 100 scale. The higher your score the stronger your website
and the higher the potential to perform well in search is. It is calculated based on the number of unique
referring domains, the value of the links, and the total number of unique outgoing backlinks
from the domain we obtained a backlink from. A domain rating over 30 is considered healthy. And finally, Moz’s domain authority. Moz, being a pioneer in anything and everything
SEO, has been around since Internet’s early days and has created its own score named domain
authority Domain authority score is the actually the most commonly used in the SEO industry
as it is believed that the score given is the closest to Google’s ranking algorithm. The domain authority of a website describes
its relevance for a specific subject area or industry. Domain authority is defined by the software
company, as a search engine ranking score developed to predict how well a website will
rank. However, you need to be aware that these scores
were developed by third party companies and the values given are only estimations of how
well a site can do or is doing in the search engine pages. These values can be deceiving as they can
be artificially increased using deceptive SEO techniques. Rest assured that Google will not fall for
it even though your ratings seems to be increasing. Additionally, the tools responsible for assigning
a value or score do not have the same capability in crawling and storing the entirety of the
world’s sites. It means that the backlinks being recognized
by both tools and Google can greatly differ. In a nutshell, domain authority, domain rating
and trust flow can be an indication of SEO performance but increasing their score shouldn’t
be the sole KPI of a SEO campaign. Google even stated that increasing your domain
authority has no direct correlation or relationship to improve your rankings even though it may. Overall, you should measure your website scores
but you shouldn’t blindly rely on them to assess how well your website is performing. If you have any questions about your domain
