General – Webmaster Tools – Yoast SEO for WordPress training

By | August 15, 2019

Hey we’re on the Webmaster tools tab of
the general settings of Yoast SEO. Each search engine has a webmaster tools type
service: Bing has Bing Webmaster Tools; Yandex has Yandex Webmaster Tools and
Google has Google Search Console, formerly known as Google Webmaster Tools.
Each of them provides information about how your site is doing in their search
results and how they are seeing your site and what type of errors they are seeing
on your site. The information can be very useful and depending on which search
engines you’re targeting you should verify with all of them or with a few of
them. Now if you’ve already verified with other methods you can safely ignore this
page, but if you’ve not verified with for instance Google Search Console yet, then
clicking on this link will take you to a page in Google Webmaster Tools where you
can say: “Hey, I want to verify my ownership of this website.” You can use
the HTML tag method and then you can copy-paste this. If you do that and you
paste it in here and click ‘Save changes’ we will do everything else for you and
we’ll put this code on the front page of your site. You can then go back into
Google Search Console and say: “Verify” and it will be there. If you have a caching
plugin running, you might need to refresh that cache. It basically works the same
for Bing and Yandex and if you do that, you have verified your site with those
webmaster tools and you can look at the information that they provide.

What does it mean when the webmaster central page says the verification failed because they couldn't find the verification meta tag?

Hi I am new to SEO world. Could I verify my GSC with google analytics and then generate my sitemap with Yoast? In this instance, do I still have to verify my GSC with Yoast?

Over two years Youast ruined my sitemap.xml index. Redirecting to nowhere. Today got it working by manually writing xml file and inserting + reporting to google search. Shame on you.
